Centennial Receives Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for Hip & Knee Replacement
Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Core Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement after undergoing a rigorous on-site review in November. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
Centennial Hills Hospital specializes in orthopedic surgery which includes total knee replacements; total hip replacements; spine surgery; arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle; podiatric surgery and fracture care. The hospital has invested in orthopedic-specific equipment to benefit patients, including the Mako® system for total hip, total knee and partial knee resurfacing.
“Our goal is to always provide a positive experience and a positive outcome,” said Sajit Pullarkat, CEO/Managing Director, Centennial Hills Hospital. “Our patients are typically here for a short stay after surgery, so our team focuses on education, physical therapy and pain management. We actually begin the process with our educational Joint Camp, and provide helpful tips during the pre-surgery visit through recovery, from strategies to get in and out of vehicles to performing exercises at home.”
As part of the on-site review, The Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with total hip and total knee-specific requirements. Centennial Hills Hospital provided data tracking its performance related to pre-surgical education, mobility within six hours of surgery, evidence-based deep vein thrombosis prevention measures, post-operative complications, readmissions, and inpatient average length of stay.
“We are very proud to earn this certification from The Joint Commission, which is the premier healthcare quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation,” said Pullarkat. “We want our patients to receive the highest level of care, which helps them recover quickly and return to their daily activities.”
