Radiology Services

Radiology ServicesCentennial Hills Hospital’s advanced diagnostic and imaging technologies can be accessed for inpatient care as well as for outpatient diagnostic services through the Outpatient Diagnostic and Surgery Center. We are a full-service digital radiology facility.

Early morning and evening appointments are available. Call (702) 629-1250 or fax (702) 835-9890.

Services include:

64-Slice CT Scanner with Angiography Capabilities (CTA)
Computed tomography (CT) shows organs at selected levels of the body. CT examinations produce detailed organ studies by stacking individual image slices. CT can image the internal portion of organs and separate overlapping structures precisely. The scans are produced by having the source of the X-ray beam encircle or rotate around the patient. Sensors detect the X-rays passing through the body and collect information that is then computer processed and displayed as an image on a video screen.

With the Toshiba 64-Slice CT Scanner, radiologists can get a detailed look inside your body. That helps detect problems early, so you can be treated when it’s easiest and most effective. Available to view in PACS.

Types of scans:
  • Cardiac scoring checks for hardening of the arteries around the heart and assigns a point value to your current condition and future risk of heart attacks.
  • Scan of the body looks at the chest, abdomen and pelvis for unusual soft tissue and function.
  • Scan of the head and neck examines the area in and around the brain/neck to detect masses, bleeds or cord compressions.
Digital Mammography
Performed by a registered technologist, there are two types of mammograms. A screening mammogram is a routine annual screening exam performed on women who have no specific breast complaints, while a diagnostic mammogram is performed on women with specific problems such as a lump or focal point of breast tenderness. The technologist X-rays the area and reviews the films for characteristics such as image quality, proper positioning and adequate compression. A radiologist specializing in the interpretation of breast imaging studies then views the films, and a report is sent to the referring physician. Available to view in PACS.

Digital Radiography
Toshiba T-Rads X-ray equipment produces fast and effective digital images that communicate to PACS, which is available in referring physicians’ offices for easy viewing and reporting.

EEG
Electroencephalograms are can be done on an inpatient or scheduled outpatient basis.

Interventional Radiology
This X-ray examination of an artery uses a catheter (a small tube) that is placed into the artery and injects dye into the vessel to show contrast. The contrast makes the artery visible on the X-rays and can reveal a blockage of an artery, how severe it is and what is causing it. Common causes include a blood clot or atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Available to view in PACS.

MRI 1.5 Tesla Short Bore
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) magnetic fields produce images that are the visual equivalent of a slice of anatomy. Unlike CT scans, MRI is also capable of producing those images in an infinite number of projections through the body. MRI uses a large magnet that surrounds the patient, radio frequencies and a computer to produce its images. Available to view in PACS.

Nuclear Medicine/Cardio Stress Testing
As an integral part of patient care, nuclear medicine is used in the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of serious disease. Nuclear medicine imaging procedures are often able to identify abnormalities very early in the progression of a disease. Very small amounts of radioactive materials that are attracted to specific organs, bones or tissues are used in nuclear medicine. These materials emit gamma rays that can be detected externally by special types of cameras working in conjunction with computers to form images. Available to view in PACS.

Ultrasound
Our full-service ultrasound program uses echo and TEE imaging and includes OB/GYN, abdominal and vascular imaging. We also perform ultrasound-guided invasive procedures. Available to view in PACS.

Breast Shield Available

As a radiation conscious facility, Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center now offers breast shields for patients who are having CT scans. Breast shields help reduce scatter absorption by the breast tissue without hindering image quality. All patients, male and female, will be provided with breast shields when they have CT scans of the chest, abdomen or pelvic areas.
